Ebbey: Rhodesian ridgebacks, or African lion hounds, are a hunting dog developed from breeds like mastiffs, wild dogs, greyhounds and bloodhounds. Found starving in a garbage dump, Ebbey the canine actor is likely not a purebred Rhodesian ridgeback. However, she is very characteristic of the breed.

Possibly from bloodhound ancestry, Ebbey has floppy lips and folds of loose skin on her throat. This pools scent molecules near her nose and enhances her ability to track. Even with just a few molecules of scent, Ebbey can pick up a trail. Loose lips also form some amusing expressions and makes humorous sounds when she is actively tracking. Great added quirks for a canine actor.
Poster: The token coin hanging from Ebbey the Search Dog's collar is larger than in reality. It is 3 inches on the poster, where in reality it's only 1.5 inches.
Poster: Though both taken with a wide angle lens, Ebbey is slightly larger in proportion to search dog handler Mikella (Allex Michael).
Poster: The missing coin and broken chain on Mikella's (Allex Michael) neck, symbolize oncoming danger to the handler. To insure accurate color reflections, Allex Michael photographed the chain against blue, orangy red, blonde hair and black. Sections were then laboriously pieced together to look real.

Poster: For safety reasons, Ebbey the search dog does not wear a token coin on her collar.
Raven: Unless you know the raven secret, adults and juveniles look identical. Two of the ravens we photographed include a juvenile wild bird and it's permanently injured raven nanny at the Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Center manager Nicola says the best way to tell a juvenile from an adult raven, is the color of their eyes. Adults have brown or black irises whereas juveniles have lavender or light brown eyes.
High Tech Gear: To take advantage of upcoming technology, the eerie action thriller Search Dog's Raven takes place from the full moon of March 27, 2013 to the full moon of April 26th, 2013. Click on a photo for details about the search dog team's high tech gear.
